Are you planning a warehouse wedding?  Love the look of rustic old buildings that ooze character and uniqueness?  That’s great because so do we particularly with lots of space, they are a blank canvas that you can really put your own stamp on!

Griffin Catering & Events are excited to share with you some design tips from a recent wedding held at the East Workshops, ‘Project Warehouse’ at Fremantle Prison.  Dave & Courtney really have a great eye for style and had some beautiful decorative elements that really brought the space to life, along with some quirky bits of humour and individuality!

Usually warehouses feature one big open space, so it’s import to segment the room into dedicated areas to create balance and functionality.

Floor plan

One of the best aspects of having a warehouse wedding reception is that there’s no need for a room change over to reveal the dance floor.  The big beautiful wooden dancefloor is all set up for after the meal and there’s space for a band to entertain the guests. Plus, plenty of room to practice your dance skills!

As you can see from above, Dave and Courtney segmented the East Workshops into 3 sections.

  1. Band and dance floor
  2. Main reception area
  3. Bar, seating area & entertainment

Dave and Courtney chose wooden chairs, circular tables and a long bridal table featuring a beautiful long floral arrangement and backdrop of green plants and roses.

The tables were decorated with a floral centre piece, a menu for each guest and the little ones received a cuddly kangaroo toy.  Cute!

All furniture featured below Griffin Catering & Events offer for hire and can help you source the perfect set up for your wedding.

Dave and Courtney used lighting to create atmosphere.  We loved the up -lighting that showcased the architectural elements of the Easy Workshops and also the net of lights suspended from the ceiling.  Very nice touches!

It is sometimes hard to choose what furniture will suit a warehouse venue and not be swallowed up by the big space.  We think that Dave and Courtney have great taste, choosing comfortable fabric sofas with a wooden base arranged in a ‘U’ shape. The side against the wall was extended in front of the backdrop of green plants, which was attached to the cage wall. The space featured beautiful wooden coffee tables, a rug, photo frames, candles and floral centre pieces for the tables.  A very welcoming and comfortable area.

The cage wall is a permanent feature of the East Workshops, a unique feature that is perfect for attaching decorative items and runs from one end of the room to the other.

Next to the seating area featured the wooden bar decorated with greenery and roses.  The wooden bar tables and stools were placed in a line opposite the bar that separated the main reception area with the bar and seating area.  The tables were decorated with floral centre pieces and candles, very elegant.

Griffin Catering & Events offer BYO services at Project Warehouse, Dave and Courtney chose the BYO with spirits glassware package.

Beside the bar featured the photo booth and props to entertain the guests.  Usually photo booths are squeezed into a corner at the venue, at a warehouse wedding reception there is plenty of room for additional entertainment.

The perfect opportunity to put your stamp or unique style on your warehouse wedding reception.  We loved both the drinks menu and the fantastic Whisky Bar menu that highlighted their personal milestones of courtship with different whiskies – genius!

The table seating sign was also created in the same style, wooden and calligraphy font hung in front of the green plants attached to the caging.

Warehouse wedding reception menu

This is when your mouth starts watering…

Griffin Catering & Event’s Executive Chef helped Dave and Courtney create their wedding menu, are packages are flexible and there is a great choice.  Paul Griffin personally attended their house to provide a tasting menu, so that Dave and Courtney could sample different elements from our wedding packages menu.  As you can see they made a great selection, plus Griffin Catering & Events provided a cake cutting service and served their wedding cake into bags at the table.

What a perfect warehouse wedding reception, fantastic entertaining space, stylish furniture, fun and games, top drinks menus and first-class food!  But it didn’t stop there for Dave and Courtney’s guests, the following morning they held brunch on South Beach!

Dave and Courtney chose a BBQ brunch cooked by our Chefs in front of the guests.  Breakfast served with a view!
